Meet Ms. Haywood
I'm so excited about the new school year! This is my 27th year in education and my 12th year at Harris Creek. During the past 26 years I have taught grades 1, 3, 5, & 6, have been a K-6 school counselor, and have served as a resource teacher for academically gifted students in K-5. I enjoyed each of those assignments and am really excited about starting another year in first grade!
My education has been enriched by many gifted educators. I received a BA from UNC-Chapel Hill, an M.Div. in Pastoral Counseling from SEBTS, an M.Ed. from UOP, and took additional graduate classes in school counseling & statistics at NCSU.
I have one son, Matt, who is a graduate of Knightdale High School. Parenting him has made me a more well-rounded teacher. He has several disabilities, as well as Asperger's Syndrome (closely related to autism). Besides spending time with my family & friends, I enjoy scrapbooking, swimming, reading, and watching ice hockey.
Your insight into your child's learning is welcome this year. You know your child much better than I and our partnership will be important to helping your child have the best year possible. My door and my ears are always open!
